Maine Maritime Academy offers some really unique opportunities to visit. So you can always visit with your family. And you can come for a couple hour visit in which you find out about all the different opportunities. As well as you'll get a tour from a student tour guide. You can also shadow a student in the major that you're interested in. And you can see what sort of classes and labs they're in, sort of get a feel for what that student life is like. And you can even take that one a notch further, you could do a spend the night as well, so you can get a night, get an experience in the dorm.
And then the other option that we have as well is open to whole student groups. So we take as young as fifth grade all the way through 12th grade. They're called discovery voyages. So usually teachers or guidance counselors get in touch with us and they say they want to bring a group of let's say, 10 to maybe 40 students, and we basically roll out the red carpet for you.
I've asked hundreds of students and student athletes by now, "Why did you choose Maine Maritime Academy?", and without fail, they always talk about how beautiful it is here and how much they do love the town. It's a place where you can come and really be a part of the community. So you can do all you want to on our campus but there are also opportunities to get involved in the town. Whether that's as a volunteer firefighter, if you're interested in being involved in a local church or or adult education, any of the local groups that that happened here in Castine.
